Spokesman of Medipix collaboration in CERN, Michael Campbell, gave a demonstration of MiniPIX detector during the Particle Physics Conference in Venezia.
According to Mr. Campbell, the MiniPIX detector can replace the Geiger counter as a teaching device. The chip is used in schools to teach children about radiation in the environment.
Newly founded Institute for Research in Schools has a number of projects using Timepix for teaching. They have a number of these detectors on a satellite that are giving data to the schools to analyse by the school kids.
